How to tell if you are having transmission and clutch issues

There are many ways that you can tell if you are having transmission or clutch problems. Because the transmission is a vital component to making the vehicle move, it won't take long to realize that you are having issues. Some of the ways you can tell if you are having transmission and clutch issues include:

Is the vehicle popping out of gear?

You will generally notice this problem in two gears, one on the low side and the same hole on the high side. This is usually caused by a worn siding clutch in the main box.

Transmission fluid leak is visible

If you are noticing a leak or a puddle or stain on the ground under your vehicle, then this could indicate that you have a transmission fluid leak. It's good practice to periodically scan over the ground where your truck has been parked and check for signs of fluid leaks. If it appears that transmission fluid is leaking, you'll want to be proactive about getting the leak repaired so that you don't risk more serious problems.

Is it difficult to get into gear?

If you are finding it difficult to put the vehicle into the proper gear, then this could indicate a transmission or clutch issue. If you notice when you try to put the truck in gear that it grinds, then you may be due for a clutch adjustment.

Do you hear grinding noises?

If you are hearing grinding noises when you are trying to switch gears, then this is a common sign of present issues. Grinding sounds that come from your truck's transmission could be emerging because of low transmission fluid. These noises could also be caused by the wrong ride height adjustment.
