How to tell if you are having exhaust system issues?

There are many signs and indicators of exhaust system failure. An exhaust system failure can lead to a loss of power and can be quite damaging to other components of the vehicle. Moreover, when your exhaust system has failed, that means a loss of work until you can get it repaired. Some of the ways that you can tell if you are having exhaust system issues include:

Rattling or odd noises: Listen to your exhaust system. If you notice that here is a rattling or an odd noise coming from your exhaust system, then that could indicate that there is an issue.

Vibrations: When your exhaust system is running optimally, you should not feel anything. When you begin to feel vibrations while you are operating the vehicle, it could be an indication that there are exhaust issues occurring.

Check engine lights or error codes: If your odometer lights up with the check engine light or you notice that there is an error code present, and this is combined with any of the above mentioned issues, then this could mean that your exhaust is failing.

Fuel efficiency is declining: if you notice that you are fuelling up more often even though you are not doing any extra travel or usage, then this could be an indicator that your exhaust system has an issue. The vehicle’s fuel efficiency can be greatly affected by the exhaust system. Your engine may not be getting enough oxygen or exhaust fumes may be backed up and damaging critical components in the engine and fuel system.
